A brilliant and accomplished leader whose expertise spans engineering and financial services, Gopi Billa has found success as a principal, leader, partner, consultant, speaker, and presenter at Deloitte Consulting LLP. He has been employed with the organization since 2013 when he became Head of Monitor and Head of Human Capital Practice for two years at Deloitte India. He then relocated to the United States branch where he served as Head of Consulting Services for a year; he has held roles as principal and partner since 2016, Marketing Sensing and Scenario Planning Leader for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa since 2018, and FSI Strategy and Transformation Leader since 2020. Across his several positions, Mr. Billa serves as a consulting partner for one of the company’s largest global accounts in financial services; represents the firm in speaking engagements and conferences; builds strategic, organizational, and transformational practices throughout all financial services; teaches strategy and scenario planning; and demonstrated his strengths as an economic thinker by leading several initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic on anticipating and adjusting to changes in the world.
In addition, Mr. Billa has shared his vast global knowledge and experience, as well as passion for social causes, as an invited professor at Imperial College Business School in London and an instructor in India. Prior to these appointments, he was a partner and Head of the Commercial Leadership Team for the Middle East and North Africa for Monitor Group, a consulting firm where he was able to make a significant impact on his industry, from 2000 to 2013. During his time at the firm, he traveled extensively and worked with multinational corporations, governments, and nonprofit organizations across 30 countries in regards to strategy development, scenario planning, change management, and governance, among numerous areas. He previously launched his career as a senior business and corporate strategy manager at Procter & Gamble in 1998. Born and raised in India, he excelled academically, earning a national scholarship grant in 1990, an Intermediate, Mathematics, and Physical Sciences Certification from Little flower Junior College in 1992 and a Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 1996, after which he conducted research in potential pursuit of a PhD. However, he found that he didn’t have the patience and instead obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad in 1998.
In addition to his primary endeavors, Mr. Billa has been active on several NGO boards and is a past member of Mensa International. A frequent writer and speaker at conferences, he also contributes on social, economic, and macro issues from the state of the world to super-apps to higher education and banking.
